Thank you to our Humble Pie volunteers who joined us for our May project! We made over 30 Hawaiian leis and painted dozens of moon rocks for Kids Cancer Alliance summer camp! You all did an amazing job and we loved seeing your kind hearts in action. You kiddos are spectacular!
Thank you to our Humble Pie volunteers who joined us last weekend to assemble Derby craft packets! You worked diligently to put together 100 packets that were distributed to patients at Norton Children’s Hospital! These packets have all of the necessary items to decorate an Oaks or Derby hat of their own. Together we brought a little Derby inside, on this rainy Derby weekend. I was very impressed by your happy and eager attitudes, ready to help others! We also raised money toward purchasing food for retired race horses at Old Friends Farm. Way to go!
Thank you to our volunteers who supported My Dog Eats First at our February service project last weekend! This organization is based here in Louisville and strives to help provide for our community’s homeless pets. Our volunteers diligently assembled treat and toy packets for cats and dogs supported by this important organization. They also donated loads of wish list items that we delivered to the charity. Thank you for being such wonderful friends to these furry family members! They bring lots of joy to their owners and you brought lots of joy to them!
We had a fun and energetic evening at SeniorCare Experts this December! Our little helpers stuffed loads of holiday boxes with food and toiletry items for elderly recipients. They did a great job! I was very impressed with their enthusiasm and dedication to the task. Way to go Humble Pie volunteers! Thank you to all of our wonderful parents too. It took all hands on deck to keep things organized!
Humble Pie Lexington completed a fun project this December benefitting Bridgepointe at Ashgrove Woods! Our volunteers dressed in their Christmas best to sing Christmas carols to all of the residents at this assisted living facility. They also made sweet Christmas cards to deliver to residents. It was a fun morning spreading Christmas cheer!
This month Humble Pie volunteers gathered to spread love through Hope Scarves. What an incredible organization this is! We have all been touched by cancer in some way and Hope Scarves works to bring encouragement during this stage of life. They mail head scarves along with cancer survivor stories to others undergoing treatment, also working to raise money for cancer research. They spread encouragement, companionship, comfort and HOPE. These scarves are mailed around the world to patients from ages 5 to 95. It is an incredible support system!
Our September project benefitted Hospice of the Bluegrass! Our volunteers created beautiful cards meant to lift the spirits of Hospice patients, all with the simple message, “I’m thinking of you.” We hope to have lifted the spirits of those receiving care and helped them feel special when they need it most. This was a work at home project, which goes to show that you and your little ones can make a big impact from the comfort of your own homes!
Humble Pie Lexington had the opportunity to host an end of year party for the kids of Step By Step, Lexington! Step By Step is a mentoring ministry for at risk young single mothers. It provides a safe haven for these mothers and their children, plus offers encouragement, education and guidance to help them become responsible and successful parents. Our Humble Pie volunteers along with the SBS children played games, colored, staged dance contests and enjoyed a few small prizes. Great job, Humble Pie Lexington and thanks to our tiny volunteers!
Humble Pie was busy again this month with 2 projects, one in Louisville and one in Lexington!
In Louisville we had a fun afternoon at Atria Senior Living handing out Easter cards that our volunteers made. The residents loved seeing little faces in the facility and our tiny volunteers did a GREAT job visiting with them. I am very proud of them all!
Humble Pie Louisville had a wonderful afternoon assembling Valentine craft packets for patients at Kosair Children’s Hospital! Our volunteers filled packets with colored paper, heart doilies, stickers, crayons (and a sweet treat) so patients could make a Valentine for a loved one while staying at the hospital. Our volunteers also crafted beautiful Valentines to add to our packages. Lots of creativity and love filled our volunteer space that day! Thank you to all who volunteered your time to support Kosair Children’s Hospital this month ❤!
