This month Humble Pie volunteers gathered to spread love through Hope Scarves. What an incredible organization this is! We have all been touched by cancer in some way and Hope Scarves works to bring encouragement during this stage of life. They mail head scarves along with cancer survivor stories to others undergoing treatment, also working to raise money for cancer research. They spread encouragement, companionship, comfort and HOPE. These scarves are mailed around the world to patients from ages 5 to 95. It is an incredible support system!
Our volunteers created beautiful “Hugging Hands” cards and notes of encouragement to add to these scarf packages. We also collected dozens of head scarfs to donate! These scarves can be donated by survivors who wore them or simply can be store bought or gently used scarves that women would like to pass along. All scarves are dry cleaned for free by Highland Cleaners. The ideal size for a scarf is 30″X30″. They can also be oblong with a width of at least 17″. Hope Scarves scoops them up and beautifully packages them to mail around the world. We are excited that our cards will embellish these already amazing gifts!
Many thanks to our volunteers and their moms & dads who worked hard to complete a creative, heartfelt project benefitting such an amazing organization!
The scarves we collected!
After our project I was able to volunteer at the Hope Scarves office, packaging our collected scarves along with our HP cards. We wrapped our hug cards around each scarf and included a little note explaining their significance.
Hope Scarves loved our hug cards so much that they are hoping to partner with school/church groups for more donations so they can include sweet hugs with many more scarves!
Thank you again to all of our HP volunteers who worked hard to make this such a meaningful project.
