I’m sure all pet owners would agree that our furry friends are a part of the family. Our black lab, Jesse, fits right in as one of the girls…. she actually started our pack of girls. She was the firstbaby that my husband and I brought home to our family of 2 (which has quickly grown to a family of 5). She began our journey as parents and now lives her days loving on (or running from) her 4 and 5 year old sisters. Jesse is a daughter, a sister, a protector, a best friend. She is our beloved Jesse girl.
In October 2015, Humble Pie decided to focus on bringing love to animals that have not yet found their forever homes. We partnered with the Kentucky Humane Society to make chew toys and lovies for their dogs and cats. We also assembled treat bags to hand out to adopting families and collected treats and pet food to donate to the shelter. We were blessed with a gorgeous day at the park to celebrate the outdoors and focus on loving the creatures that love us so unconditionally.
Afterwards a group of our volunteers traveled to the Humane Society to deliver our goodies. We were able to visit several of the shelter animals and learn even more about the wonderful programs that our Kentucky Humane Society offers to animals in our community and their adoptive families. They are a private, non-profit animal welfare agency and the state’s largest no-kill shelter. They find homes for more than 6,500 cats and dogs a year. They provide spay and neuter services, behavior training for adopted pets and animal care classes for children. They also provide boarding for pets and recently started an Equine C.A.R.E. program to benefit recreational horses. If you are looking for a new addition to your family, The Kentucky Humane Society is a wonderful organization to help you with your search!
Thank you to our Humble Pie volunteers! You are super sweet, animal loving, crafting extraordinaires! We appreciate YOU!
